Monday July 14th....Due to Ionoshereic conditions - in other words cosmic influences totally beyond my control - there won't be a new episode this week, and probably not next week either. Sorry, and all my heartfelt apologies to you Loyal Legionnaires.
This week I have to prepare a few Burroughs drawings for the upcoming 'Comic Book Jungle' event in Waterloo Iowa. It is a great event held in conjunction this year with the annual Burroughs Dum-Dum. For all you none Edgar Rice Burroughs fans out there the 'dum-dum' was the gathering of the apes of the tribe of Kerchak - the ape father of Tarzan! So the Burroughs society adopted the name for the gathering they have each year. This year it is in Waterloo Iowa. It has been a few years since one was close enough for me to get too. Since I got invited by the great Iowa Comic Book Club to be a part of their event that is right across the hall from the Burroughs event, I jumped at the chance. In the past I have illustrated an edition of Tarzan of the Apes, Pellucidar, The Eternal Lover, The Moon Maid, The Moon Men, The Red Hawk, and Lost on Venus!
Plus I need all you Loyal Legionnaires to wish me luck on the 19th of July - I am up for an Emmy award for the television show 'Murder House' that I did the graphic design for, along with all the print ads, poster, and mailers. Hey it's a regional Emmy, but it is a real Emmy!! So wish me luck Legionnaires! (I promise not to raise the price of Captain Spectre! ha.)
Again Loyal Legionnaires I do apologize for missing the next couple of updates - you see I am trying to earn enough money to get a new computer. The old machine at Secret Legion HQ is old, and the possibility of selling a couple of Tarzan drawings and Burroughs books is something I can't pass up. Normal comic conventions aren't the best for selling Burroughs items so I just gave up taking them along.
I will post a progress report next week for sure, but it will be a short one since things are heating up here at Legion HQ.
